The global leader in professional wrestling, WWE, is bringing back one of its iconic pay-per-views as a Premium Live Event—WWE Bad Blood. Set for Saturday, October 5, 2024, WWE Bad Blood will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This date also marks the 27th anniversary of the first-ever WWE Bad Blood event in 1997.
Unlike other WWE PLEs that follow a standard start time, WWE Bad Blood will feature a special earlier start. The decision aims to avoid clashing with a UFC event on the same day, as both WWE and UFC are now under TKO Group Holdings. The event will air an hour earlier than usual, beginning at 6 PM Eastern Time (11 PM BST), affecting broadcasts across all time zones. This unique timing adds an extra layer of excitement to this returning classic.
Returning after a 20-year hiatus, Bad Blood couldn’t have come at a better time. With heated rivalries brewing across both WWE brands, fans are excited about its return. Bad Blood is replacing the Hell in a Cell PPV, a move welcomed by wrestling enthusiasts, as it ensures the iconic Hell in a Cell match is reserved for feuds worthy of its brutality. This event has a rich history, notably featuring the first-ever Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in 1997. It was also the night Kane made his unforgettable debut. Given its legacy, WWE’s revival of Bad Blood is expected to be a blockbuster event.
So far, five matches have been announced for WWE Bad Blood 2024. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will conclude their long-running feud inside Hell in a Cell. Rhea Ripley will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Liv Morgan, and Finn Balor will face Damian Priest in a singles match following their split at SummerSlam. Nia Jax’s opponent has yet to be revealed for the WWE Women’s Title match. Additionally, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes will team up against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in an intriguing tag team match.
Among these feuds, CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre stands out as the most intense. Their rivalry, which has lasted over nine months, will reach its climax inside Hell in a Cell, potentially being the main event. Fans are divided over who should come out victorious, but it seems CM Punk might need this win more. Drew McIntyre has excelled as a heel, but Punk has fueled the rivalry with his mic skills, making this feud one of the most captivating in recent memory.
Meanwhile, Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest is a product of long-term storytelling by Triple H. Their eventual split has been teased for two years, and while it’s surprising to see their first singles match so soon, this rivalry is far from over. Expect this to be the first of many matches, likely culminating at WrestleMania. For now, Finn Balor seems poised to take the win at Bad Blood.
